Leigh Wharf, night   Leigh Wharf gate
10   Leigh Harbour sea wall, night (October 2009)

One problem with shooting at night is that it can be too dark to see exactly what is in and what is out of the frame. I'd shot this a few nights earlier, but not been pleased with the composition - so decided to re-shoot. There was a vehicle in this version, which at first dismayed, but then pleased me. It balances the composition, but also dates the photo: one day it will be a vintage Land Cruiser. In future I will shine a torch around more, to check my framing and avoid a re-shoot. But, had I got it right the first time, I would not have found a more effective image on the re-shoot.

I like the cold, wet rocks.
